Canfor Corporation, the Vancouver-based forestry giant listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange, has completed its purchase of PinkWood Ltd., a Calgary-based engineered wood products manufacturer that holds the distinction of operating Western Canada's largest I-joist production facility. The deal, which closed July 3, 2026, was first announced less than a month earlier on June 9, signaling a swift regulatory and transactional process.
The acquisition represents a deliberate expansion of Canfor's value-added lumber footprint in the Prairie provinces. I-joists — engineered floor and roof framing components prized for their strength-to-weight ratio and dimensional consistency — have become increasingly central to residential and light commercial construction, giving Canfor access to a product line that sits downstream from raw lumber and commands better margins in many market conditions.
